Key Things from the movie – Tension building
In this movie, a lot of techniques were used to build up tension over a simple chess game. This overall made the game seem more important and tense. Some of the techniques used were time lapses, and zooms. By using time lapsing, the film was showing that a large amount of time had past, and that was giving the effect that the game was taking a long time. Also, zooming in on different things in the movie i.e. The two characters showed better emotion in their face and that they were concentrating hard on the game of chess. Also, at the end where they slowed down the knocking over the black piece showed tension, and showed that it was an important, game changing move, that perhaps ended the entire game.
